Daily Itinerary

Majestic Norway Day 1 - Monday, July 13
Mpls/St. Paul – Oslo: Depart Mpls/St. Paul on your transatlantic flight on Icelandair. For departures from other cities, travel is recommended on SAS. For further information, see Air Transportation under Terms & Conditions.

Day 2 - Tuesday, July 14 [D]
Oslo: Arrive at Gardermoen Airport Oslo. Transfer to hotel in city center. Balance of day free to relax and adjust to time change. Welcome dinner and overnight at the classic Grand Hotel.

Day 3 - Wednesday, July 15 [B]
Oslo: Morning sightseeing tour of Oslo includes a visit to Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Viking Ship Museum. Afternoon and evening free for shopping and independent explorations. Dinner on own.

Day 4 - Thursday, July 16 [B,D]
Oslo—Rjukan—Hovden: Travel through Telemark, an area rich in cultural traditions. At Rjukan, tour the Industrial Museum where the Nazis produced "Heavy Water" for their atomic bomb experiments during the war. Continue to Hovden for dinner and overnight at Hovdestøylen Hotel.

Day 5 - Friday, July 17 [B,D]
Hovden—Stavanger: Proceed down the Setesdal Valley to Valle. Stop at a local silversmith shop. Cross the mountains to Sirdal. Drive to Dirdal and Byrkjedalstunet in Rogaland. Enjoy a traditional Norwegian dinner in what was formerly a cheese dairy. In addition to thousands of candles produced in the candle shop, there are souvenirs, Norwegian handcraft and Norwegian wool products. Proceed to Stavanger. Overnight at Radisson SAS Atlantic Hotel.

Day 6 - Saturday, July 18 [B]
Stavanger: Morning sightseeing tour of Stavanger includes a visit to the Stavanger Cathedral. Afternoon and evening free. This modern Norwegian city, a hub of the North Sea Oil exploration and development operations, is a charming mixture of old and new, retaining much of its 18th century charm. Dinner on own.

Day 7 - Sunday, July 19 [B,L,D]
Stavanger—Rosendal—Os: Drive the underwater tunnels from Randaberg to Rennesøy. Ferry from Mortavika to Arsvågen and from Skånevik to Utåker. Box lunch. Continue to scenic Rosendal, at the mouth of the Hardanger Fjord. Visit the Rosendal Barony, a renaissance castle from the 1600’s surrounded by a lovely garden and park. Proceed to Os, south of Bergen. Enjoy an evening of relaxation along one of Norway’s beautiful fjords. Dinner and overnight at the exquisite Solstrand Hotel & Bad.

Day 8 - Monday, July 20 [B,D]
Os—Bergen—Voss: Morning sightseeing tour of Bergen includes a visit to Troldhaugen, the home of Norway’s renowned musician, the late Edvard Grieg. Tour concludes with a guided walk through the historic Hanseatic Wharf. Afternoon at leisure for a stroll through the colorful Fish Market, shopping or independent explorations. Proceed to Voss for dinner and overnight at the historic Fleischer’s Hotel.

Day 9 - Tuesday, July 21 [B,D]
Voss—Flåm—Fagernes: Depart Voss by train on the famous Oslo/Bergen Railroad. At Myrdal transfer to the Flåm Railway, ranked as one of the top 20 train rides in the world. Within 13 miles descend 2800 feet to the idyllic fjord community of Flåm. Drive through the world’s longest tunnel (15.22 miles) from Aurland to Lærdal. Visit Borgund Stave Church, one of the most interesting and best preserved of the remaining stave churches. Continue through the beautiful Valdres Valley to Fagernes. Dinner and overnight at Quality Hotel & Resort Fagernes.

Day 10 - Wednesday, July 22 [B,D]
Fagernes—Lillehammer—Oslo: Drive to Lillehammer. View the sites of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Time on own for shopping and/or independent explorations prior to a festive farewell dinner at a local farm. Return to Oslo for overnight at Quality Gardemoen (Oslo Airport.)

Day 11 - Thursday, July 23 [B]
Oslo - USA Tour ends following breakfast. Transfer to airport for return flight. Longer stays may be requested upon registration for an additional charge of $50. For independent tour extensions see Independent Travel.
